9th June 2009

Classic Game Room HD reviews DEFENDER for Atari 5200. This Eugene Jarvis classic arcade game is one of the best in the world, how does it work on the Atari 5200? CGRHD review of Defender has gameplay footage recorded from Atari 5200 showing the space ship in Defender during game play. Defender is an old school, horizontally scrolling SHMUP style game where you fight off enemies and save humans before they are captured and turned into mutants. What fun! The Atari 5200 has multiple buttons (unlike Atari 2600) allowing players to shoot, drop smart bombs and hyperspace! Classic Game Room HD reviews Atari 5200 video game cartridges as a retro reviewer reviewing Atari 5200 video games from the early 1980’s.

    Mr. CGRHD, you …
Mr. CGRHD, you should consider putting your other Defender reviews as video responses to this video. That way, we can just click right over and compare the versions.

But I guess you’d have to do that on every review, for every game with multiple versions.

Maybe that would turn out to be a lot of work.

    “never find these …
“never find these old systems ” When they make emulators somewhat legal, that won’t be much of a problem. Open up an “iROM” service already!

  20. KUR1SU Says:

    Yes. MY first …
Yes. MY first console was a NES aswell but I still love these old pre-NES Classics.
I was interested in them when I was a kid, but could never find these old systems anywhere and stuck with some compilations and remakes. And today I wanna buy these and I still love them on compilations, emulators, etc.
Sure, they aren’t as long and maybe not as deep as some newer games out there but they are fun classics you can play over and over again. They are short loads of great fun. Pick up and play!

  21. zane411 Says:

    You never had to …
You never had to appreciate games like this, you were born when the NES came out. You cant comprehend how much these games meant to us back in the day, and why they are still widely appreciated. This game is the father of all side scrolling shoot-em ups

  22. TheLateRiser Says:

    people really need …
people really need to stop lying to them selves, the old atari systems and its games are seriously garbage..these get so boring so quick and i dont want to use my imagination like a lot people say you should do. i grew up in the late 80s through 90s so i understand classic games nintendo is the earliest id ever go and its fun..screw atari, colecovision, intellivision its all crap. leave the game making to the japanese.
