1st August 2009

Classic Game Room HD reviews HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE for Xbox 360. This game is also available on Playstation 3 PS3 and Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince can be played on Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, Sony PSP and Playstation 2 (but no Vectrex!??). Play as Harry Potter and a few other characters as Voldemort tightens his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds. Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven that it once was and Harry suspects that evil may exist within the castle. Dumbledore prepares Harry for the final battle which approaches, as Harry requests help from Professor Slughorn who holds memories in his head which could help. The teens run wild with hormones raging, fueled by magic and love potions…. how will it all end?? Harry Potter fans should enjoy this well made, technically solid romp through the Harry Potter world. Mix potions, duel with magic and take to the air as Seeker of the Gryffindor Quidditch team. Discover the identity of the Half Blood prince in Harry Potter the video game for Xbox 360! Earn loads of achievement points and trophies (in the PS3 version) while playing Harry Potter. Collect crests hidden throughout the castle and mini-crests lurking within lights. Battle enemies, friends and mix potions illegal in 49 states. Harry Potter keeps it real for his 6th year… shouldn’t he be graduating soon? This CGRHD review of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has gameplay footage showing game play in Harry Potter the video game, Half Blood Prince on Xbox 360.

    Yeah, but I think …
Yeah, but I think they based the review on the repetitiveness and poor voice acting. The Wii controls were said to be flawless.

  2. SpecterM91 Says:

    Ha! Subtle Monty …
Ha! Subtle Monty Python joke for the win. :B

  3. KUR1SU Says:

Wasn’t Gametrailers talking about the Wii Version, anyway?

  4. skrolikowski Says:

    Gametrailers …
Gametrailers totally bashed this game. It’s good to hear another side of the argument.

he most likely has an archive of reviews he has done, and everyday he picks a video to upload. he gets the money from his real job and because he is a youtube partner, youtube pays him for his videos

    haha I played a …
haha I played a Demo of this and I too was rather annoyed that I couldn’t throw a stone bench at random people and hurt them with it. I used to be a big fan of the harry potter games but after the 4th one I just lost all hope in it. 2nd one is my fav by far even though it had ungodly long load times

  14. Ishidasouken Says:

    playing harry …
playing harry potter like the emperor in star wars
    brilliant =D
but not as fun as you would hope it to be

  15. MoltenPlastic Says:

I bow to the Monty …
I bow to the Monty Python Quote.

  16. MoltenPlastic Says:

    Flame me if you …
Flame me if you must, but I never really liked the character of Harry Potter, I find him terribly annoying: all the teachers love him, everybody talks about him, he gets help from everyone, gets all the best magic and even gets on the sports team!
That’s not a character I can easily identify with. That’s just the best-of-the-class kid who no-one could ever stand!
Guess that’s why I always find myself rooting for Draco…

  17. saintogalgomon Says:

    The ending was hillarious XD

  18. Somamdw Says:

    One of the news …
One of the news papers here in sweden gave this game 1/5. They said that it was only made to take money from the fans.

  19. Delta438 Says:

Somehow the music reminds me of Fable.

  20. VoidKeeper Says:

I guess for kids it …
I guess for kids it would be ok. But Harry Potter to me is lacking in a lot of things, I’m talking aboutthe book not the game xD.

but the game does look like you wouldn’t be bored for a couple of hours.

    Another wonderous CGR review

  23. Golarian Says:

    I want a Monty …
I want a Monty Python to be my GPS.

  24. Retrogamer71 Says:

    WOW!! I have to …
WOW!! I have to say I’d never ever want
to read a Harry Potter book or go to the
cinema to see the film, So I’m not even
a fan but as Mark says the video game
is well made and quite entertaining.
He’s played right through it. It would
be worth a purchase just to play through
it and to sell afterwards. Like Tomb Raider Underworld, it was extrememly
entertaining to play and visually stunning
but when completed you’d probably want
not to complete again so best to sell on.

  25. N0itcartsba Says:

    The whole series …
The whole series was, progressively cleverer from one book to the following book in the series. (& I read these as an adult. I’ve also been lifetime book reader who grew up reading & re-reading J.R.R.Tolkien novels) J.K.Rowling really is a brilliant & creative writer, who’s books always kept me deeply engaged & guessing to the very end. Sadly, though this seems a cliche; in this case it’s quite true : the movies aren’t 1/20th as good as the books nor do they show 1/100th of the novels content.
